About our driving school

Why choose us for your driving lessons in Colchester

Dedham Vale Driving School was established in 1988 and has been approved by Essex Trading Standards since 2009.  Our driving school offers a full range of driving lessons in Colchester, Clacton, Ipswich and the surrounding villages.  Our driving instructors offer weekly driving lessons in both manual and automatic cars.

We also specialize in intensive driving courses and provide residential driving courses. In addition, our instructors can offer motorway driving lessons, the Pass Plus course and refresher lessons.

All our driving instructors at DVDS are DBS checked and have many years of experience between them.

During your driving course, your driving instructor will keep you informed of your progress. They will also conduct at least one mock test to ensure you are ready to take the DVSA driving test.

Weekly Driving Lessons

Weekly driving lessons are a great way of learning to drive. We offer hourly driving lessons, one and a half or two hour blocks.
Alternatively, you may wish to increase the number of driving lessons per week. You will receive high quality driving instruction on a one to one basis. Your driving instructor will hold a DVSA ADI or a DVSA PDI licence. Take a look at our lesson prices.

During your driving lessons in Colchester, Clacton or Ipswich your instructor will perform at least one mock test.  This will make sure you are fully prepared and therefore give you the best chance of passing your driving test 1st time.

Intensive Driving Lessons

We offer various intensive driving courses in Colchester and Clacton depending on your previous experience and driving ability. It can be hard to decide which intensive course suits your particular needs so as a result of this your driving instructor will take you out for a two hour assessment. The assessment will take place in either Colchester or Clacton. During this assessment, your driving instructor will be able to advise you on the hours required for you to reach test standard. The instructor will also let you know if an intensive driving course is suitable for you.

You can take as many hours of tuition per day/week as you feel comfortable with, however we do not recommend more than 5 hours per day. With this in mind, your intensive driving course will be catered to your individual needs.
